Top Places You’ll See

From natural wonders to authentic local culture, the route is packed with memorable sights—these are our absolute favorites.

Aerial view with Malinska town and beach, Krk island, Croatia

Malinska

A charming coastal town on Krk’s western shore, Malinska has long been a favorite Adriatic retreat. Known for its sheltered bay, palm-lined promenade, and easygoing pace, it offers beaches, local taverns, and easy access to Krk’s inland villages. Once a fishing settlement, today it balances resort life with authentic island character.

Mali Treskavac

Rising 448 meters above sea level, Mali Treskavac is one of Krk’s highest points, offering panoramic views across the island and nearby Cres. The summit reveals the rugged karst terrain that defines Krk — barren stone plateaus, patches of pine forest, and the shimmering Adriatic beyond. On clear days, you can even spot the Velebit mountains on the mainland.

Sunny morning view of Bashka Beach in Baska town. Amazing summer seascape of Adriatic sea, Krk island, Kvarner bay archipelago, Croatia, Europe. Beautiful world of Mediterranean countries.

Baška

At Krk’s southern tip lies Baška, famed for Vela Plaža, a stunning 1.8-kilometer beach framed by limestone hills. The town is also home to the Baška Tablet, a 12th-century stone inscription in Glagolitic script — one of Croatia’s oldest written monuments. With its waterfront promenade, stone houses, and mountain backdrop, Baška blends beach relaxation with a deep sense of heritage.

Mjesečev Plato (Moon Plateau)

Known as the “Moon Plateau,” Mjesečev Plato is one of Krk’s most striking natural landmarks. Located near Baška, its barren, rocky landscape resembles a lunar surface — shaped by centuries of wind erosion and the island’s karst geology. The area offers sweeping views over the Adriatic and neighboring islands like Prvić and Cres. It’s a favorite among hikers and mountain bikers seeking otherworldly scenery just minutes from the sea.

Castle “Salatić” – Old Ruins

Near the village of Salatići, these ivy-covered ruins date to the 15th century and were once the residence of the noble Salatić family. The remains of towers and defensive walls stand quietly amid olive groves, evoking Krk’s medieval past when noble estates dotted the island’s fertile interior.

Frequently Asked Questions

Self-guided cycling tours offer a customizable and adaptable way to enjoy a cycling vacation, giving you the freedom to explore at your own speed and adjust your path or timetable as desired.

Our dedicated team handles all the logistical arrangements, such as lodging, detailed schedules, GPS directions, and round-the-clock assistance, ensuring a hassle-free, engaging adventure that emphasizes autonomy, personalization, and genuine interactions with the local community.

Our tours are categorized into three difficulty levels: leisurely, moderate, and challenging. Although each may include both easier and more demanding days, our rating system reflects the average difficulty level for a typical day.

Leisurely tours take place primarily on flat, paved cycling paths, asphalt roads, or easy gravel tracks, and they are suitable for all fitness levels.

Moderate tours may include some uphill climbs or technically more demanding terrain, but they are manageable for individuals of average fitness.

Challenging tours entail either long distances and numerous climbs or technical terrain, possibly featuring downhill sections requiring proficiency with a mountain bike.

If you are not bringing your own bike and equipment, we can certainly arrange that for you. We have a wide selection of bikes at our disposal and we will choose the ones that best fit your tour. All we need from you is your usual bike size and any other relevant information or preferences so we can make sure you will be comfortable throughout your trip.

Our tours can be adapted to any bike type, whether road, gravel, or mountain bike. We are in constant communication with you to find the optimal conditions for your cycling holidays in Croatia.

The most versatile option is a gravel bike, even if you are coming on a road cycling holiday. It does not really affect your road performance while allowing you to take some scenic backroads that can be in a slightly worse state than the main ones. A gravel bike is usually more comfortable as well.

We are dedicated to finding the ideal lodging for you. We collaborate with various lodging establishments that meet our criteria, but their availability can fluctuate, particularly during peak seasons. We can also personalize your vacation based on your preferences and financial constraints, ensuring we locate the best possible option that suits your taste.

We advise that you make your reservation as soon as possible. Numerous routes pass through well-known tourist areas where lodging choices may be restricted. Often, the most desirable accommodations get reserved for the summer season before spring even arrives.

Especially our bike and boat tours get sold out really quickly, as the boats can only accommodate a certain amount of people.

The ability to accommodate dietary restrictions varies depending on their severity. In Croatia, vegetarian meals are generally available, but finding vegan options in rural areas or smaller towns may be difficult.

Additionally, please be aware that lunch breaks frequently take place at conventional establishments that may have difficulty accommodating special requests outside their standard menu. We recommend that you take this into account during your journey. The boats usually offer vegan and vegetarian options.

The best season for cycling in Croatia is generally from April to June and September to October. During these months, the weather is mild, with temperatures ranging from 15 to 25 degrees Celsius, and the crowds are smaller than during the peak summer season. July and August can be hot and crowded, making cycling more challenging.

However, if you are comfortable with higher temperatures and busy areas, you may still enjoy cycling during this time. Winter months can be quite cold and wet, making cycling less desirable. Therefore, the best time for cycling in Croatia is during the spring and fall seasons.

Dalmatia South bike cruise with Katarina Line guides Nataša and Kristijan and Adonis captain Roko and his crew made the week fantastic! I was very impressed at how flexible they were. Before we set off at Mljet, I asked Nataša if we’d have time to take the boat ride in the park to an island there. They hadn’t originally planned for that but pivoted and included it for the entire group.

My cycling holiday in Croatia was unforgettable! Pedaling along the Adriatic coast was like a dream, with turquoise waters and charming villages at every turn. Highlights included exploring Split’s historic old town and the stunning islands of Hvar and Korčula. The itinerary was perfectly paced, combining scenic routes with plenty of time to relax by the sea. I highly recommend this trip for anyone seeking a mix of adventure and Mediterranean charm!

I would highly recommend anyone doing this tour take the e-bike option. There were only 3 of us on our tour who completed this on regular bikes. Four others who started out on regular bikes swapped over to e-bikes after the first day. The climbs are long and steep. There is pretty much only up or down, not much flat or undulating road. It is doable, but very challenging. If you are on an e-bike then this also helps with the group staying together and no-one having to wait too long for others to catch up. The bikes were really good and had great gearing that was capable of handling the steeper climbs. When we booked we were unaware that we would be riding in a group of 20plus at all time. Thankfully our group had prior group riding experience but we did observe other large groups with less than desirable riding behaviours.Others in our group were extremely understanding and supportive. Our guide, David, was very adamant about staying safe on the road. He was flexible with the itinerary and made changes to suit the weather conditions and to ensure we got in as much riding as possible. He was vey knowledgeable about Croatian history and agriculture and taught us lots about the country he is so passionate about. Our captain, Tolma, was also amazing and along with his awesome crew, made our cruise an enjoyable experience.

I found this place with a simple Google search, and I never could’ve expected the custom experience I received. They provided options to help my husband and I hone in on exactly what we wanted to do for our honeymoon. We had perfectly curated GPS-lead rides all across the country, they booked all of our hotels, and planned all of our transportation. Every place that we went was so beautiful. I’m so grateful that we found this company to help us plan our honeymoon, couldn’t have asked for a better experience!
